Local Director

A Private Limited Company must has at least one director be locally resident of Singapore. A locally resident individual is one who is:

• a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; or

• a foreigner with an employment pass or approvel-in-principal from the Employment Pass Department; or

• a dependant's pass holder with permission from Singapore Immigration.

Any foreigner who wishes to register a new company in Singapore and act as the local director of the company is required to apply for an Approval-in-Principle Employment Pass. Alternatively, the foreigner may appoint a local resident to act as the company local director.
